Scio Ridge Land Conservancy

Nature in your Neighborhood

Here is a list of proposed projects we hope to complete in 2008.

This large project will involve grooming and re-mulching the full  length (1.2 mi.) of the main trail. The project was completed 6/14/08

Signs describing the common sense rules for the Conservancy will be added to the existing trail designation posts. This should be done by July.

The board has approved a study by a private party to install and maintain habitat boxes for bats within the Conservancy. There is no timetable for this.

There are some large, nearly dead trees adjacent to the Conservancy boundaries, that will probably need to be brought down in 2008. Timing as required.

This project will address some areas of the trail where property or natural drainage tends to wash away the mulch on the trail. This will be done in April.

Completed Project List 2007

Here is a list of projects we completed in 2007

· A walkway was designed and built over a permanently soggy portion of the path on the East branch of the trail just north of the Ravines Cul-de-sac entrance.

· New signs were designed, purchased and installed showing the trail entrances and benches. A new sign was added for the southwest entrance.

· Two benches that had deteriorating supports were reset in new concrete.

· The trails around the North lake were widened and the spaces around all benches were trimmed of weeds and brush.

· Several remaining stumps in the trail were cut flush with the ground.
