Nature in your Neighborhood |

The wetlands receives water that drains from the surrounding neighborhoods, partially stores it and releases it more gradually into the drainage system that ends up finally going into the Huron River. Because of the final destination of the drain water it is important not to pollute the wetlands. |

Conservancy Rules |
|
1. Respect the area’s wildlife. Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping are not allowed. 2. Help maintain the natural balance of the area’s ecosystems by not introducing any non-native plantings. 3. Leave the plants and foliage intact for others to enjoy. Do not remove any plants, or trees, even fallen or dead trees. They will decay and help rebuild the natural humus. 4. Keep all private structures or systems-whether temporary or permanent - within the limits of your own property. 5. Use the trails for foot travel or cross country skiing only. Leave the bicycles, ATV’s and snowmobiles or other transportation machinery at home. 6. Help preserve the pond and stream habitat by not wading, swimming or using any type of flotation device in in them. 7. Pick up your own litter and any other refuse you notice and dispose of it properly outside of the conservancy. 8. Please keep pets on a leash and clean up and dispose of any waste they may leave. |

From time to time, trees in the conservancy die and depending on their location, may become a hazard to adjacent homes. The board has discussed the problem and agreed to some general rules governing when the conservancy will cut down a dead tree. 1. The tree must be on Conservancy property, we cannot remove trees on private land. 2. The tree will be felled into Conservancy land away from the dwelling. 3. The tree will not be cut up or removed except to clear a path for the trail or to avoid clogging a stream. The stump will not be ground. 4. The tree must be tall enough to hit the dwelling proper. 5. The tree must be more than 75% dead. This is indicated by lack of leaves, lack of bark on the trunk etc. There may be other circumstances, such as a dead tree which is located on the lot line, which would be handled as a separate case. |
