The Scio Ridge Land Conservancy is a protected nature area composed of nearly 21 acres of scenic wetlands, private wooded areas, and open meadows that will not be developed.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Environmental Protection Agency jointly define wetlands as "those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetations typically adapted for life in saturated soils. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas.”

The Scio Ridge Land Conservancy  was conceived in the original site planning of the Scio Ridge  Road area by the Johnson, Johnson, and Roy architectural firm in 1987.The land was donated by BSI for the enjoyment of the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.

The Scio Ridge Land Conservancy is a 501 (c)3 non profit organization incorporated in 1994 to maintain and protect the Conservancy property.

The organization is funded by assessments levied upon the surrounding neighborhoods.
